Bald Mountain Road, Colorado

This trail climbs so gradually on the east side, you don’t realize you are climbing above 10,000 ft. It has many twists and turns as it passes between Middle Bald Mountain and South Bald Mountain. Parts of the route are punishing. When you reach the turn for Green Ridge Trail, you have the option of turning left and following it south on a long, rocky road to Highway 14; or continuing west to easy Forest Road 319. Rating
Difficult. No major obstacles, but a lot of very rocky terrain. Not recommended for stock SUVs, but those with very high clearance can probably do it. West end has some big ruts and mud holes, but worst can be bypassed.
